The Process
There are hundreds of DJ's who will gladly play a variety of music the day of your event. I am the only DJ who will hand select and play your music several times prior to your event. I take music selection very seriously, every event is different from the next thus it requires the soundtrack to be unique. Other DJ's will show up with their standard catalog of "party favorites", do the job, and leave. I will make sure I show up with a refined script that has been carefully rehearsed prior to your event.
Steps I follow
Once the initial contact is made, I review both of our needs to verify I would be a good fit for your event. I will then schedule a face to face meeting to review the themes you wish to follow and then provide you with suggestions for your consideration.
After you have decided that you must have me for your event, I will immediately begin compiling your soundtrack. When the rough draft is completed, I will gladly create a brief (about 10-15 minutes) synopsis and provide you the ability to listen to it via the web at your convenience. After you tell me your likes or dislikes of the rough draft, I will go through the entire step again to refine the selection.
Coming from the technology industry I understand that technology cannot always be trusted; therefore, I have multiple "failovers" to make sure your event runs smoothly. Rather than relying on a laptop with MP3s I use the tried and true media formats. CD's and LP's are still the safest form of music delivery, but I always make sure I have backup media to give you the security you deserve from an experienced professional.
